Questions & Answers

Clarity Today. Confidence Tomorrow.

How much does it cost to attend LFEC Stream Academy?

Annual tuition is $10,000, but most families pay far less using Step Up For Students scholarships and possible in-house aid. Scholarship families typically only cover uniforms and field trips. Private-pay options are available, and an admissions meeting will clarify your actual out-of-pocket cost.

How do you support diverse learners?

Academic plans are individualized and continuously updated based on data and student needs. Small group instruction ensures targeted support, and adaptive tools (like assistive technology) are used when appropriate.

Tuition & Financial Aid

What is the STREAM model?

STREAM stands for:

Science • Technology • Reading • Engineering • Arts • Mathematics

Examples of STREAM learning include:

  • Science experiments and investigations

  • Engineering and design challenges

  • Writing connected to projects and research

  • Technology-supported research and presentations

  • Creative and artistic problem solving

  • Math applied to real situations

Are you aligned to Florida standards?

Yes. All instruction follows the Florida B.E.S.T. Standards (Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking) in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.

Why do teachers choose curriculum materials?

Students learn differently. Some students need stronger foundational support, while others need enrichment and advanced work.

Our model allows teachers to:

  • Fill learning gaps

  • Accelerate advanced learners

  • Adjust pacing

  • Provide small-group instruction

  • Reinforce foundational reading and math skills

This flexibility helps students make measurable progress.

How do you ensure quality and accountability?

All curriculum materials must:

  • Align with Florida standards

  • Demonstrate effectiveness with student achievement

  • Be approved by administration

  • Be monitored through ongoing assessment and progress tracking

Instruction is regularly adjusted based on student mastery and performance.

In many schools, subjects are separated and learning is worksheet-based.

At LFEC, students frequently learn through:

  • Hands-on projects

  • Small group instruction

  • Discussion and collaboration

  • Reading and writing connected to real topics

  • Problem solving and inquiry

Technology supports instruction, but students are not placed on screens all day.

How do you measure progress?
We monitor student growth through classroom assessments, academic tracking, and skill mastery.

Do students improve academically?
Students commonly show growth in reading comprehension, foundational math skills, and learning confidence because instruction is individualized.

Why do students who struggled elsewhere often succeed here?
Students benefit from:

  • Smaller classes

  • Immediate feedback

  • Consistent routines

  • Direct supervision

  • Relationship-based teaching

How does LFEC handle behavior?
Our discipline approach focuses on teaching behavior, not just punishment. We emphasize:

  • Clear expectations

  • Emotional regulation

  • Accountability

  • Problem solving

Students receive reteaching, reflection, and parent communication when concerns arise.

Does the school allow bullying?
No. Bullying, harassment, intimidation, and threats are not tolerated. All reports are investigated and documented. Students may be separated and supervision increased when needed.

Do you suspend students?
LFEC does not use routine out-of-school suspension. We keep students learning whenever it is safe and use interventions such as:

  • Reteaching

  • Behavior plans

  • Loss of privileges

  • Middle school detention after warnings and reflection

When would a student be suspended?
A student may be suspended only if they are determined to be a danger to themselves or others or if a serious safety concern exists.

Do you follow safety procedures?
Yes. We follow a structured threat-assessment process and may consult our security advisor and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office when safety concerns arise.

What consequences may occur for unsafe behavior?
Consequences may include:

  • Increased supervision

  • Behavior plans

  • Restricted activities

  • Limited recess access when safe behavior is not demonstrated

  • Detention for middle school students

Can a student be expelled?
Yes, but only when safety or repeated serious behavior makes continued enrollment inappropriate.

Reasons may include:

  • Violence or credible threats

  • Weapons or dangerous items

  • Serious bullying

  • Prohibited substances

  • Repeated major incidents despite intervention

How much does it cost to attend?

Do you offer additional assistance?
Yes. We provide in-house scholarships for families who meet income qualifications.

What do scholarship families pay?
Typically only:

  • Uniforms

  • Field trips

What if I do not qualify for a scholarship?
Private pay options and payment plans are discussed during admissions.

Why do families sign an annual contract?
The contract allows the school to staff classrooms, purchase materials, and ensure students have the resources they need for the full school year.

Is there a trial period?
Yes. There is a 15-day adjustment period after the first day of school. If both the school and family agree the placement is not a good fit, the contract may be canceled.

Are there other exceptions?
The contract may also end if:

  • The family relocates to another city

  • The student is dismissed by the school

What if a parent withdraws after the trial period?
After the adjustment period, the guardian remains responsible for the full tuition if they choose to unenroll. Communication with administration is encouraged if circumstances arise.

How do I enroll?

  1. Schedule a tour

  2. Meet with administration

  3. Submit an application

  4. Review placement plan

Can students transfer mid-year?
Yes, if space is available.

How do parents communicate with the school?
