Accreditation, Accountability & College Readiness

LFEC STREAM Academy is committed to academic quality, student safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.

 

Our school follows applicable Florida private-school requirements, supports qualified students through dual enrollment, and is actively pursuing Cognia accreditation.

Florida Department of Education Compliance

LFEC STREAM Academy is registered with the Florida Department of Education as a private school and participates in applicable Florida scholarship programs.

Florida does not directly accredit private schools. Instead, participating schools must meet state requirements related to:

  • Annual school registration and reporting

  • Student attendance and academic records

  • Health and safety procedures

  • Employee background screening

  • Teacher qualifications

  • Scholarship accountability

  • Student assessment

  • Financial reporting and documentation

 

LFEC maintains policies and records designed to meet these requirements and support responsible school operations.

Academic Standards and Assessment

LFEC’s curriculum is aligned with Florida B.E.S.T. Standards and applicable state course requirements.

We monitor student progress through:

  • Classroom assessments

  • Progress reports and report cards

  • Academic intervention data

  • Approved standardized assessments

  • Individual student learning plans

 

Assessment results are used to guide instruction, identify learning needs, and measure academic growth.

Teacher Qualifications 

LFEC instructional staff members meet applicable Florida private-school and scholarship-program requirements.

Teachers may qualify through:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher

  • Prior teaching experience

  • Specialized professional knowledge or expertise

Employees and applicable contractors complete required background screening before working with students.

Dual Enrollment with Eastern Florida State College

LFEC STREAM Academy is developing a dual-enrollment pathway with Eastern Florida State College, or EFSC.

 

Dual enrollment allows eligible high school students to earn college and high school credit at the same time.

 

Participation is based on:

  • LFEC and EFSC agreement requirements

  • Student GPA

  • College placement scores

  • Course prerequisites

  • Academic readiness

  • Available course space

  • LFEC academic approval

 

General Dual Enrollment Eligibility

EFSC generally requires students to meet the following minimum standards:

 

Associate Degree Programs

  • 3.0 unweighted high school GPA

  • College-ready reading and writing scores

  • Required mathematics placement scores

 

College Credit Certificate Programs

  • 2.5 unweighted high school GPA

  • Required placement scores

 

Career and Technical Certificate Programs

  • 2.0 unweighted high school GPA

  • Program-specific requirements

Requirements may vary by course or academic program.

Cognia Accreditation in Progress

 

LFEC STREAM Academy is actively pursuing accreditation through Cognia.

Cognia accreditation is a voluntary external review process focused on school quality and continuous improvement.

 

The process evaluates areas such as:

  • School leadership

  • Teaching and learning

  • Curriculum

  • Student achievement

  • School culture

  • Student support

  • Staff development

  • Governance

  • Family engagement

  • Strategic planning

 

LFEC will not describe itself as Cognia accredited until accreditation has been formally granted.

 

General Accreditation Timeline

The full accreditation process generally takes approximately 12 to 18 months, although the timeline may change based on review requirements and scheduling.

Phase 1: Preparation

LFEC reviews Cognia standards, policies, procedures, and school improvement priorities.

Phase 2: Self-Assessment

The school evaluates its academic, operational, leadership, and student-support practices.

Phase 3: Evidence Collection

LFEC gathers documents, student data, policies, surveys, and other evidence demonstrating school quality.

Phase 4: External Review

A Cognia review team evaluates school practices, interviews stakeholders, and reviews supporting evidence.

Phase 5: Accreditation Decision

Cognia considers the review findings and determines the school’s accreditation status.

Phase 6: Continuous Improvement

Following the review, LFEC continues monitoring progress and completing identified improvement goals.

Anticipated LFEC Timeline

LFEC’s current projected timeline includes:

  • 2026: Preparation, training, policy review, and self-assessment

  • Late 2026 to Early 2027: Evidence collection and improvement planning

  • 2027: External review and accreditation determination

 

All dates are estimates and remain subject to Cognia’s official review schedule.
