- LFEC STREAM Academy focuses on small group instruction rooted in the concept that students learn best when they are appropriately supported. Regular evaluation of progress allows the teacher to adjust expectations, balancing demands with skill level so that the student can continually improve to reach their potential. At LFE Center, the individual drives the standards based curriculum, with content tailored by the student and their teachers. With 10 or less students in a class courses can be adjusted according to individual interests, background knowledge, and skills.
- SEL and academic support are a cornerstone of our program to promote the development of domain-specific skills. In order to focus on the social-emotional and cognitive challenges particular to learning differences, giftedness, and twice-exceptionality our team work with parents to set individualized goals and interventions as needed. The team then provides appropriate accommodations to support and challenge remarkable students. We also allow parents to select and bring in outside staff to support unique learning needs. We seek to promote the development of our students' skills both in and beyond the classroom. Both exceptional & gifted students often display a statistical tendency toward perfectionism, but with the right mix of SEL and academic supports, our students are able to stay motivated about learning and school.
- Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disability that affects how people respond to their environment behaviorally, socially and communicatively. Since there is a wide variety of ways this disorder manifests itself, people on different parts of that spectrum have different strengths and weaknesses. LFEC STREAM Academy uses a variety of tools to ensure students receive the education they deserve. Accommodations and supports are designed to minimize obstacles to learning or participating in the educational environment we provide supports such as Picture Schedules, Behavior Charts/Reward Systems, Assisted Technology, Organizational Support, Timers, Fidgets and additional supports. We also welcome ABA support staff on campus.
- LFEC STREAM Academy provides academic programs with social and emotional support for students with ADHD or ADD. Our classrooms small groups provide an environment with fewer distractions than a traditional classroom with a number of students. To address a student’s challenges with attention and hyperactivity, LFEC is able to minimize the potential for distractions, provide organizational support, and a strong teacher connection. Accommodations and supports are designed to minimize obstacles to learning or participating in the educational environment we provide supports such as Schedules, Behavior Charts/Reward Systems, Assisted Technology, Organizational Support, Timers, Fidgets and additional supports.
